摘要：: <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover opening and closing mechanism capable of preventing the half-closing of a cover and capable of suitably detecting the opening and closing of the cover by a detecting means arranged at one side of a pair of lock mechanisms. <P>SOLUTION: The cover 7 of an image forming device 1 has bending rigidity which is relatively low in a lateral direction. Therefore, in a state that an engagement claw of the lock mechanism on a left end side of the cover 7 is easily pushed in and an engagement claw on a right end side of the cover 7 is hardly pushed in when the left end side of the cover 7 is pushed to move the cover 7 to a close position, the cover 7 is distorted, and curved in a shape shown by a broken line as an example. When such distortion is generated, an elastic return force arises in the cover 7 accompanied by the elastic deformation of the cover 7, and the elastic return force acts in the direction drawing back the engagement claw of the lock mechanism on the left end side of the cover 7 from the close position side.
