- The invention relates to a fixing device for a plate located on the holding arm of a surgical retractor, provided with protruding retaining members located on one part (holding arm or plate) engaging in recesses on the other part. In order to join the plate and the holding arm in a constructively simple and easy-to-use manner, one part is provided with two protruding peg-shaped retraining members which are set apart from each other and are parallel to each other and the other part is provided with two receiving slots which remain open towards one edge of the other part and which accommodate the protruding retaining members. Said receiving slots are inclined at an angle to each other in the longitudinal direction and the distance between their closed ends is the same as that of the protruding retaining members. One of the receiving slots extends along the circumference of a pivoting radius whose centre point is located on the closed end of the other receiving slot and whose radius corresponds to the distance between both protruding retaining elements.
