PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always obtain a pull-out end when using a roll. SOLUTION: A device for retaining a roll has two axes: a driving axis 1 and a following axis 3. A flat gear 2 having a radius R1 is fixed concentric to the driving axis 1. A roll main body 5 is fixed concentric in a manner that a section of the roll main body 5 can be drawn out from a side upper than a core axis to frontward. A pivot section of a fan-shaped plate 4 having a circle of a radius 2R1 and a central angle of 100 deg. is fixed concentric. Teeth of the flat gear adapting to the flat gear are provided at a length of πR1 from one edge of a circular arc of the fan-shaped plate, and a rest of the length is a vacant section of the teeth 10. When corresponding to each tooth, this vacant section of the teeth is fixed to a lower direction. A rotatable range of the fan-shaped plate is restricted between the both edges of the up and down circular arc to the flat gear.
