- PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily extract an header from an optical packet. SOLUTION: A timing-shaping circuit 12 shapes the timing of pay load data 14, which are to be stored in a data area of desired optical packet signals, in response to a pay load clock 16. A phase-adjusting circuit 18 adjusts the output of the circuit 12 in relation to a header. A divider 20 applies a clock, obtained by dividing the clock 16 into 1/N (N: an integer) to a phase modulator 24. The modulator 24 modulates the phase of output clock 22 of the divider 20 according to the path information 26. A selector 30 selects output 28 of the modulator 24 in accordance with a switch control signal 32 and then selects the output of the circuit 18. Then an optoelectronic converter 36 converts the output of the selector 30 into an optical signal from an electrical signal.
