The present server for searching for people according to set parameters, which is adapted for connection to mobile client devices via an internetwork, comprises a user identification unit containing a module for determining user coordinates, which is adapted to receive user coordinates with the aid of a module for determining the coordinates of a mobile client device and is connected to a unit for comparing the coordinates of other users in order to establish whether said users fall within a given proximity range, said user identification unit also being connected to a unit for the mutual comparison of user parameters and user requests, a database of all registered users and a unit for sending notifications to those users whose coordinates fall within the given proximity range and whose parameters in the database mutually correspond to existing requests in the same database.</p>
