- <p>The semi-finished rolled products are tested for faults which contrast with the rest of the product surface, or are made to contrast with it. At least two surface areas of the product are scanned by t.v. cameras, while the cameras move parallel to the product surface, with the video picture lines perpendicular to the direction of the relative motion. A group of lines is combined into a picture section, and video signals contained in this picture section are evaluated as fault signals. Picture sections provided for the individual t.v. cameras are produced at different time intervals, and consecutively evaluated by a common evaluation device.</p>
