- A tap selector comprises insulating cylindrically spaced members provided with sequentially actuable tap contacts in axially spaced planes (U1, U2, V1, V2, W1, W2). The sequential contacts for each phase are in alternate planes of an adjacent pair (U1+U2 etc.). The spacing in one plane between the last contact and the penultimate but one contact and between the last contact and the second contact are greater than the spacings between other adjacent contacts. The member supporting the first contact and the member supporting the penultimate contact are disposed at the opposite side of the circle to the member supporting the last contact. An insulating member 52 providing the support for the insulating members and situated in a plane V2 of even-numbered contacts axially innermost contacts extends between the member supporting the first contact and the member supporting the penultimate contact, and an insulating support member 51 in an innermost odd-numbered contact plane V1 extends between the member supporting the last contact and the member supporting the penultimate but one contact. Thus partially annular members 51, 52 support the circumferally spaced insulating members. <IMAGE>
