- PURPOSE:To produce piezoelectric ceramics which are capable of producing pure thickness vibrations in a wide frequency range by using a composition represented by a formula of a compound:{Pb1-2x+(y/2)Thx}{Ti1-yIny}O3+z mol% MnO2, where 0.03<=x<=0.15; 0<=y<=0.10; 0<=z<=12. CONSTITUTION:Using powders of PbO, TiO2, ThO2, MnO2 and In2O3 as original raw materials, a composition of{Pb1-2x+(y/2)Thx}{Ti1-yIny}O3+z mol% MnO2 is composed, where x, y and z represent 0.03<=x<=0.15; 0<=y<=0.10; 0<=z<= 12. Next, after those powders are mixed up completely, preliminary baking at 850 deg.C is performed for one hour. Then, after those powders are pulverized, pressure forming with pressure of 700kg/cm<2> follows before final baking at 1,220-1,280 deg.C. After this, silver electrodes are brazed on both faces, and direct current bias voltage is applied for polarization. Thus, the products allow frequency characteristics of the free admittance to very monotonously in the frequency range not more than the thickness vibration so that the operating frequency range can be expanded.
