摘要：

PURPOSE:To prevent stress corrosion cracks and enhance the reliability of a turbine rotor, in such a construction that the wheels are fitted on the shaft by keys, by subjecting the keys seats to shot peening. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface and the sides of opening of a key seat 4 formed in every wheel 2 are subjected to shot peening a, b. Accordingly a residual compressive stress is generated in this part, so that the actual tensile stress applied to this part can be kept at an ultimate low level because of action of the residual compressive stress given by the shot peening process, even though a high stress near the limit is applied to this part during turbine operation, and thereby stress corrosion cracks generated at the key seats 4 and their neighbor hood of wheels 2 in the case of conventional structure can be well prevented to ensure that the turbine rotor works with high reliability.
