- PURPOSE:To quickly suppress short-circuit, by reciprocating-winding a superconducting wire having great ordinary conduction resistance by specified frequency, and by changing the cross-sectional area of the superconducting wire of a short circuit suppressing device with non-inductive wiring, according to magnetic field distribution. CONSTITUTION:Between terminals 2 and 2, a superconducting wire 1 having great normal conduction resistance is reciprocating-wound by specified frequency, and non-inductive wiring is executed. So far as the cross-sectional area of the superconducting wire 1 is concerned, according to magnetic field distribution, the sections near the terminals are made larger, and the central section is made smaller. As a result, the magnetic field of the superconducting wire section is extremely made smaller, and on the whole wire, a critical current value is almost made constant, and at the time of the occurrence of a short-circuit accident, the whole wire is quenched at the almost same time, and short circuit suppression is quickly executed.
