PURPOSE:To prevent the difference of luster from occurring on the surface of a material to be rolled by nearly equalizing the load per unit width of the bearings for double side supporting rolls to the load per unit width of the bearings for a center supporting roll. CONSTITUTION:In each group of three supporting rolls 5-7, the width W1 of the bearings 10 is constituted to be large in the double side supporting rolls 5, 7 which each receive a large load F1 from intermediate rolls 3, 4 while the width W2 of the bearings 11 is constituted to be small in the center supporting rolls 6 which each receive a small load F2 from the intermediate rolls 3, 4. The bearing 10 for the double side supporting rolls 5, 7 and the bearings 11 for the center supporting rolls 6 are arranged in zigzag so that the contact positions of these bearings 10, 11 to the intermediate rolls 3, 4 are not put one on another and the loads per unit width of each bearing 10, 11 are constituted to be nearly equal. In this way, the contact pressure is made continuous, uniform and the difference in luster can be prevented from occurring on the surface of the material 1 to be rolled.
