<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a storage battery with good yield, with which a current collecting lead plate and a seal undersurface are contacted certainly so that the second welded part is formed certainly, and the internal resistance of the battery is lowered to lead to enhancement of the working voltage at discharging. SOLUTION: A current collector 30 is welded to the oversurface of an electrode body 20 consisting of a positive electrode 21, negative electrode 22, and separator 23, and this is accommodated in a battery can 40, and the tip of a current collecting lead plate 31 extending from the current collector 30 is spot welded to the undersurface of a lid 51 of a seal 50, and a first welded part A is formed on the lead plate 31. Then a spacer 33 is installed on the oversurface of the current collector 30, and the seal 50 is placed on the opening 41 of the can 40 through an insulating gasket 42, and the end of the opening 41 is caulked inward so that sealing is completed under the condition where part of the lead plate 31 is contacted with part B of the lid 51. A voltage is applied between the positive electrode terminal 52 and negative electrode terminal 40 and a large current is fed so that the contacted part B is welded.</p>
