<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical path control apparatus capable of efficiently allocating an optimum optical path to an optical signal at optimum timing. <P>SOLUTION: This optical path control apparatus which is arranged in each optical node, selects an optical path for an optical signal propagated through the optical transmission path and outputs the optical signal to thereby construct an optical communication network is provided with an optical delaying means 1 for delaying an optical signal with routing information attached to the header part by an optical signal delay time, an optical switching means 3 having an input port for receiving an optical output of the optical delaying means and an output port for outputting the optical signal, a photoelectrically converting means 2 for converting the optical signal into an electric signal, a storing means 9 for storing path control information and delay time information, and a control means 8 for retrieving the path control information on the basis of the routing information extracted from an output of the photoelectrically converting means to generate a path switching electric signal for switching optical paths for the optical path and delaying the path switching electric signal by an electric signal delay time calculated on the basis of the delay time information to output the delayed path switching electric signal to the optical switching means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
