SOLUTION: An image reader comprises a scanner part 50 having a platen mode and the ADF mode for reading an original for correction in which density patches are arranged, an arithmetic part 42 for calculating correction luminance and tone correctionγtable from average luminance (platen mode and ADF mode) for each density patch, and an image processing block 31 for executing luminance correction or tone correction with respect to read images in the ADF mode, and a difference of a read image level by the scanner part 50 using different read means is eliminated.
