PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction unit that can be constructed in a smaller size, and a paper sheet feeding device equipped with the suction unit. SOLUTION: The sheet feeding device is furnished with a sheet feed table to admit stacking of a bundle of paper sheets, and the suction unit 1 is installed on the end on the side in the transporting direction 100 of the sheet feed table. The suction unit 1 is furnished with a supporting plate 2, whereto a suction chamber 7 is secured. The undersurface of the first portion 7a of the suction chamber 7 is furnished with an opening 7c to suck in the air from over the bundle of sheets. A discharge chamber 8 is coupled with the undersurface of the second portion 7b of the suction chamber 7 and is furnished with an opening 8a to discharge the air toward the side face of the bundle of sheets. Inside the discharge chamber 8 is put in communication with inside the suction chamber 7 through a communication hole 9, and a fan 10 is installed in the discharge chamber 8.
