A display device is provided to recognize an image by having a function of recognizing an image by itself even though polarizing plates are formed on both sides of a display panel. A display device includes the first substrate(311), a gate line, a data line, the first switching device, a pixel electrode(340), a light receiving device(320), a light shielding pattern(330), and the second substrate(361). The gate line is formed on the first substrate. The data line intersects with the gate line. The first switching device is connected to the gate line and data line. The pixel electrode is connected to the first switching device. The light receiving device recognizes an infrared ray. The light receiving device is formed on the first substrate. The light shielding pattern blocks light. The light shielding pattern is overlapped with the light receiving device. The display device comprises the second substrate facing the first substrate.
