<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus preventing paper discharge trouble due to a careless drawing of a paper discharge section that is freely drawable in a discharge space between an image reading section and an image forming section. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 includes: an image reading section 21; an image forming section 22, a paper discharge tray 24, a lock section 50; and a control section 70. The image forming section 22 is arranged below the image reading section 21 so that the paper discharge space 25 for discharging paper is formed between the image forming section 22 and the image reading section 21. The paper discharge tray 24 is arranged to be freely displaced between a storing position and a drawing position. The lock section 50 can be freely displaced between a locked state that locks the paper discharge tray 24 in the storing position, and a released state that releases locking of the paper discharge tray 24.
