PURPOSE: An electrophoretic image display device is provided to effectively prevent condensation of particles which are oppositely charged by an interval adjusting agent in an electrophoretic dispersion liquid. CONSTITUTION: An electrophoretic dispersion liquid(220) includes a dielectric solvent(221), charged particles(222, 223), and an interval adjusting agent(224, 225). The charged particles are dispersed in the dielectric solvent. The interval adjusting agent separates charged particles which have opposite polarities. The interval adjusting agent includes a hydrophobic segment and at least one functional group. The functional group chemically reacts to the surface charges of the charged particles.
