PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor which can inspect the mixed impurity states of a capacitor active carbon electrode and a separator molded in the form of a sheet, prevent the occurrence of self-discharging operation, and stabilize the energy storing function of the capacitor. SOLUTION: The mixed state of such metallic compound (having sizes not smaller than 50 microns) in the form of crystals grown into needles through oxidation and reduction reaction during charging operation as to extrude into a capacitor active carbon electrode or a separator is inspected using soft X ray inspection apparatus. Only the capacitor active carbon electrode or the separator not containing such extruded needle-shaped crystal is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
