The present invention provides a hook-and-loop fastener in which the following slanted engaging element group region (1) and male engaging element group region (2) are arranged in parallel in the longitudinal direction on the same surface of the base material, wherein: engaged shear strength is high when engaged; unintended unfastening does not easily occur; the fastener can be peeled with a small force when disengaging; damage of the mating fastener surface does not occur easily; and the sound of peeling is small. - Slanted engaging element group region (1): A region with multiple slanted engaging elements that extend at a slant with a prescribed angle from the base material and the slanted engaging elements are slanted in substantially the same direction with respect to the base material. - Male engaging element group region (2): A region with multiple male engaging elements that extend from the base material.
