- PURPOSE: A display device and a method for compressing and transmitting data thereof are provided to improve resolution without increasing the number of signal lines in a signal transmission path between a host system and a timing controller. CONSTITUTION: A host system (300) generates RGB data. A data receiving unit (200) generates R'G'B' data by inversely converting YU'V' data obtained by recovering compressed color difference information (U'V') by receiving the compressed color difference information and luminance information (Y) into RGB data. A timing controller (400) supplies R'G'B' data received from the data receiving unit to a display panel driving circuit, and controls operation timing of the display panel driving circuit.
