- PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform recording by using characteristics of a combined character.SOLUTION: A printer 11 includes: a serial head 25 which can record a combined character obtained by forming one character with a combination of parts of a plurality of portions, the respective portions being divided from one character, and records the combined character while performing scanning in a predetermined direction; and a recording control part 26a which receives from a host computer 10 control data for instructing recording of a part for one line in each portion, develops image data of combined characters for one line to a buffer 40 on the basis of the received control data in each portion, and performs recording by driving the serial head 25.
