<p>A method and apparatus for delivering a load to a target, the load is releasably attached to an unmanned aircraft. The method and apparatus acquire, through one or more processors, a position of the target on the ground s116, parameter values relating to manoeuvrability of the aircraft s120, properties of the load s122, and parameter values relating to environmental conditions. The acquired information is used to determine a position for the aircraft and a value of a velocity for the aircraft s124. The determined position and velocity value are used to determine a procedure s126 for the aircraft, which is then performed s130. At a point in the procedure the aircraft releases s132 the load once it has the determined position and a velocity equal to the determined velocity value. The determined position and velocity are such that, the aircraft releasing the load at the determined position and travelling at a velocity equal to the determined velocity, the load would land on the ground within a predetermined distance of the target. The determined procedure is also selected so that at at least one instance during it the aircraft will have the determined position and the require velocity.</p>
