PURPOSE:To make it smooth to change over the movement of a backwash-side main valve, by setting the first and the second auxiliary valves and two valve movers which movably hold said auxiliary valves respectively, in the backwash- side main valve. CONSTITUTION:In case of changing the operation from backwashing to filtering, raw water is led from a raw water side intake 4, after the water pressure charged on a backwash-side main valve 8' is reduced to the minimum. This flow of water acts on the pressure receiving plane of the left surface of a raw water side main valve 8, accordingly a reciprocating shaft 7 moves rightward and opens the second auxiliary valve 12B. The second auxiliary valve 12B comes in contact with the left surface of the second valve mover 16B, and the opening movement of this valve 12B is stopped. Then, as the second auxiliary valve 12B pushes the second valve more 16B, and pulls the first auxiliary valve 12A through the second guide 17B, this auxiliary valve 12A is opened. As the right surface of the auxiliary valve 12A comes in contact with the left surface of the first valve mover 16A which is fixed to the main valve 8' through the first guide 17A, the opening movement of this auxiliary valve 12A is stopped.
