摘要：: PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel using a dynamic range extension method and a method thereof are provided to improve image quality degradation while processing a dart part of a display screen when displaying a moving picture. CONSTITUTION: A frame memory(54) stores moving picture data inputted from an external input line in one frame unit. A dynamic range change part(56) is connected between the frame memory and a panel, and changes a dynamic range of the moving picture data according to minimum distribution bottom and top gray level information. A reverse gamma correction part(58) is connected between the dynamic range change part and the panel, and changes luminance value according to the gray level of an image signal linearly by performing a reverse gamma correction as to the moving picture data whose dynamic range is changed. A peak compensation part(60) is connected between the reverse gamma correction part and the panel, and changes a gamma output curve according to the amplitude comparison of data inputted from the frame memory with gamma output values. And a delay(72) is connected between the frame memory and the peak compensation part in parallel with the dynamic range change part and the reverse gamma correction part, and delays the input data from the frame memory.
